Tony Group Foundation awards $5500 in scholarships
The Tony Group Foundation, a charitable non-profit organization established by Tony Masamitsu founder and chairman of the Board of the Tony Group, has donated $47,500 in the past 12 years to assist high school graduates from the central and Leeward Oahu areas with their pursuit of higher education. In June 2008, Tony Group Foundation continued its tradition by providing cash scholarships to another 11 public high school graduates from central and leeward Oahu heading off to college. Scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of academic and extra- curricular excellence as determined by the scholarship committees of each high school. Tony group was founded in 1967 when Tony Masamitsu opened his first car dealership in Japan. In 1977 Tony group opened as the first exclusive Honda dealership in Oahu and today operates the Tony Group Autoplex, Hawaii's Auto Mall in Waipio.
